Somatic Communication Workshops for Parents in the Workplace
Parenting is one of the most rewarding yet demanding roles in life.
Parents are often the first to be effected by pressures in the workplace, due to the other demands on their life, and the effect that holding all of those responsibilities has on their system.
Parents are more likely to experience high or extreme levels of stress, with factors such as finding childcare, and strains on their relationships playing a role in how manageable the stress in their life felt. (source)
While some stress is normal, especially when we are challenging ourselves or working on something new, chronic or regular stress can lead to a range of health difficulties.
The Thrive Project is here to help.
Our series of somatic communication workshops are designed to support parents in thriving—not just surviving—at work and at home. By tuning into the wisdom of the body, participants will learn to:
✔️ Recognise early signs of stress and prevent burnout.
✔️ Set healthy boundaries and make decisions with confidence.
✔️ Build resilience and regulate their nervous system.
✔️ Enhance workplace relationships through embodied empathy.
✔️ Support their overall health and wellbeing.
The science
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) plays a large role in maintaining homeostasis, determining the stability and functioning or our necessary bodily functions like breathing, digesting, and healing.
A well regulating and functioning, the ANS helps us to
manage stress
respond to life appropriately
focus
feel clear in our decision making
The ANS provides signals that can be experienced through sensation. Examples of sensations are feeling heat in our neck when we’re angry, an open or warm feeling in our chest when we connect with someone we get on with, and a fuzziness in the chest when we’re anxious or apprehensive.
The practice of tuning into these sensations is called interoception. Research has shown that people with good interoceptive awareness are better able to regulate their emotions, cope with stress, and make healthy choices.
the thrive project offers:
✔️ Practical tools to reduce stress and increase vitality.
✔️ Greater self-awareness and emotional regulation.
✔️ Improved workplace relationships and communication.
✔️ A personalized somatic self-care plan to sustain your progress.
