You don’t just want to look like the relaxed, fun mum
you want to feel like her.
Pretending is exhausting. This 10-minute somatic practice helps you reconnect with your body, emotions, and self, without needing to fix or force anything.
Is the “relaxed, fun mum” another role play character for you?
I applaud you for trying.
And I know you genuinely want to have the energy to play all the Moana characters.
Pretending is exhausting - and only overwhelmed, wound-up, irritation, and guilt.
You’ve read enough to know you’re not alone but that solidarity doesn't make it easier.
You're done with pretending.
I could (and would love to) give you all the neuroscientific reasons that you’re feeling this way.
But in this moment, that’s like a nurse explaining how blood clots when someone has a gaping wound on their leg.
To summarise the neuroscience lecture: You’re not broken. You don’t need fixing. Your nervous system is working overtime. And we can start taking care of that today.
Cue: sigh of relief.
Recenter & Reconnect is a short, guided somatic practice for mothers who are ready to stop wishing for presence - and start feeling it.
Recenter & Reconnect
This practice is the first step to living an embodied life.
AKA a life where you are no longer powerless or baffled by how you feel.
What you receive:
✅ 2-minute audio welcome
✅ 7-minute guided practice
✅ Follow-up prompts to support integration
This isn't a meditation.
💃 This practice promotes interoceptive capacity - let me tell you why that is so important.
Simplified, it means: ‘awareness of what’s happening in our body’.
When you reach to open a window because you're too hot - that is interoception.
The same body signals that tell you you’re cold and need a cardigan also tell you:
– When you’re overwhelmed
– When someone’s crossed a boundary
– When a “no” is needed
– When your child needs comfort and when you do too
🙅🏻♀️ When our interoception is low, we only notice what’s happening in our body when it shouts at us.
Think:
– You’re so mad you want to smash a plate
– Having to hide in the bathroom to manage your overwhelm
– Snapping when your toddler asks you for the third snack of the hour
This practice will help you to
Notice your feelings before you reach boiling point.
No longer counting down the minutes until bedtime - you’ll find moments for rest or joy in your day.
What happens when you recenter and reconnect?
😴 You won’t end up out late at a social event wishing you’d stayed home - because you’ll hear your body say “not tonight.”
😌 You’ll start to feel calm when getting out the door - not have to pretend to be.
🫂 You’ll move from powerlessness to presence - even with grief, guilt, and activating moments.
Is This for You?
This isn’t for you if you’re looking for a quick fix, or want to bypass your emotions.
Lasting change doesn’t come with one listen - but with repetition, this simple practice contributes to a more fulfilled life.
I don’t deal in quick or one-track ‘fixes’.
This is for you if you’re ready to come home to yourself. at your own pace, with an open mind about the opportunities that will open up for you.
Therapy will take you deeper. But this is where we begin.
A brief hello from me.
I’m Charlotte, somatic therapist and founder of The Embodied Mother - a therapeutic journey for mothers ready to shift from emotional depletion to a deeply rooted sense of self.
My work blends nervous system education, trauma-informed somatic therapy, and 10 years lived experience to support women in finding their way back to their felt, intuitive knowing - even in the busyness of motherhood.
This practice is one small step toward that deeper reconnection. And I’m honoured to share it with you.
